The energy I’m infused with in NYC is always so rejuvenating. Leaves me feeling motivated, ready, more myself.

After a season where I’ve needed more rest, reflection and hibernation, this trip has me feeling r e a d y to open myself up to the new magic the Universe has in store for me. And I’m ready to co-create with her 🦋🌎

I recently read a passage in one of Ann Patchett’s essays about how a couple she knew couldn’t contain the celebration of their love to one specific day — they had so much love they wanted to celebrate that they needed a whole week. All of the little things they do and everyday objects they’ve accumulated deserved celebrating because they were so infused with their love! And I adore that.

Our love can be found

in the way we took our little dinner making jigs to our wedding dance.

in the antique table I said I loved and when I came down the stairs you were carefully preparing to carry it down Charles St. on New Years Eve. It now sits in our bedroom where we smile at it everyday.

coursing between us as we sit feet to feet passing back + forth a crossword puzzle.

in the way you make your coffee the night before so you don’t wake me up too early.

the way you show your love everyday — folding the blanket, fluffing the pillows, taking Stabler out in the middle of the night.

the things you do that drive me mad but that are so inconsequential we just laugh — the rug on the bathroom floor mysteriously moving, the espresso grounds in the tray.

everyday. No matter where we are. Walking down the street, making dinners, quietly or loudly building our lives together. My favorite thing to do.

Happy Valentines Day, everyone. ❤️ I hope we all cultivate this kind of unconditional love today for ourselves, our partners and the life we build when nobody’s looking.

I almost didn’t post these because I can’t even begin to sum up the last 10 days into words but Christmas Eve Karaoke, going to my Dad’s favorite antique mall (and finding out how to bring home a vintage lamp 🙃), baking cookies with my Mom, devouring (amazing!!) Mexican food with the Mylius bunch, seeing friends who have become family, enjoying a lingering brunch with my grandparents, the 12th Annual Schattner Girl & Pa “Pie Hard” night and lots of laughs were memories I’ll cherish forever.

It is so hard living far from family and we’ll be holding these moments with them close to us until the next time we’re under the desert sun. ☀️💚❤️

Failing is where the magic happens and your world opens up like Moses parting the Red Sea.

Failing is where you are gifted the magical opportunity to let go of everything you wished for and “Please, if God only…” ’d for and cried over and…

Jump.

Into the gorgeous, deep realm of what’s meant for you.

But it turns out, what I considered to be a failure wasn’t really failure at all. Really, very rarely do we fail and 99% of the time I have the mind to believe we didn’t truly. We pivoted. We were redirected to something greater. Our calling, our purpose, our dharma.

Once upon a time when I was in college drunkenly crying over a failed capture-the-f̵l̵a̵g̵ boy situation, someone (much soberer than I) told me about a quote that would go on to be a prayer I’d carry with me day after day. She said, “What’s meant for me will never miss me and what misses me was never meant for me.”

Gosh, it was so profound then and now I still wonder if I should tattoo it on my forehead. I won’t because the idea of getting something permanently etched onto my skin makes me break out in hives, but you get the gist.

Back to the message: I once thought that my pivoting was me failing + that was… dreadful. I could think of very few things worse than failing. Perhaps sky diving, or waking up to find out the recurring nightmare I kept having in which I forget about a class I registered for until graduation day was reality.

I thought that by embarking on a non-linear path I was showing the world how unsuccessful I was.

After much reflection, meditation, and deliberation with loved ones, I realize that I, my friends, am a creative person.

Last month we were lucky enough to see Aaron and R

Last month we were lucky enough to see Aaron and Rachel promise forever in the most gorgeous English Countryside wedding that ever was + my heart still isn’t over it.

It is incredibly rare to see a group of people come together with such pure love and buzzing excitement for a couple but if you know them you wouldn’t be the least bit surprised. To know the Caldwell’s (!!) is to love them and want to celebrate them fully.

Already hoping and praying for a vow renewal because WHAT I WOULD DO to relive the dancing and excited hugs and big smiles and scream-shouting the most epic dance floor playlist while goofily grinning at the bride + groom again and again and again. We love you two to pieces. 🤍

The other day I came across a note in my phone I had written last year. It said, “The other day Aaron was jumping on our bed with a tshirt over his head like a monkey. Today he came running out of the office blasting music and danced for me. I get to live with a party my whole life. A gift a gift a gift.” 😂🤍

A gift is exactly what Aaron is to me, and what he is to everyone who knows him. He’s the first one to make Del’s Shandy out of lemons, is always an accomplice for your spontaneous idea and loves life with a ferocity that leaves others loving life even more.

As he turns 30 we’ve been talking about how incredible his 20’s were and how he’s so EXCITED for everything his 30’s will bring — and I feel grateful to be his wife and along for the adventure!

To the best dog papa, cross-country driver, living room dancer, sour gummy worm eating, steak making man out there: Happy Birthday! I love you more than words can say. Time to celebrate! 🎉🎁☀️
