To say I’m a Diane von Furstenberg fan is an understatement. I keep her books on my desk to flip open for inspiration, admire what she has done for women around the world, think her business acumen is uncanny, and, of course, believe the iconic wrap dress was ahead of its time.
Needless to say, when I heard DvF was collaborating with Target, I was giddy about the prospect of snagging some goods at a more accessible price point, especially since I adored their designer collaboration with Christopher John Rogers in 2021.
The DvF for Target line officially launches March 23rd, 2024, at 12amPST/3amEST. However, I was lucky enough to score an early shop date with the brand’s 2-day public event in New York City this past weekend at The Shed.
I headed there on Friday with a dream (I simply could not pass up the salad plates) + my husband (thanks, honey, for the moral and muscle support) and was not disappointed.
With many large retail x designer collaborations, I sometimes feel like the quality of the work suffers, or the consumers are let down by pieces that don’t pay homage to the designer’s most beloved work. I’ll start by saying I did not feel that way with the Diane von Furstenberg and Target collection. DvF’s much-celebrated flower motifs and bright colors were on full display, and I thought the prices were incredibly fair, with most of the collection being under $50.
I will say I noticed some of the sundresses and rompers were made of the kind of material you’d expect to find at larger retail chains —you won’t be seeing a silk or jersey wrap dress on the sales floor— but I also didn’t go in expecting that. Think more cotton blends, woven fabrics you see a lot of in smocked dresses right now, etc.
Now, let’s get to the meat and potatoes.
With over 200 pieces in a collection that spans clothes, homeware, furniture, and beauty, there are bound to be pieces that are more “worth it” than others. After lining up early, testing numerous products, and physically seeing much of the line IRL, I wanted to share what would be on my “heart” list if I were exclusively shopping online or at my local Target.
The DvF for Target Line is Expected to Sell Out Quickly
For that reason, I encourage you to create or log in to your Target account as you go through this post. When you see something you love, make sure to press the heart icon at the bottom right of the image.
This will allow you to view all of your “hearted” items under your “Favorites” tab, which you can find by going to Account > Favorites.
On launch day, log in as early as possible, add the items you’d like to your cart, and check out promptly.
DvF for Target Favorites: Kitchenware
I wanted to start with the DvF for Target’s kitchenware collection (or “Nourish Edit,” as Target has coined it) because it’s what I was personally most excited about, and the round-up I was most excited to snag myself! We all know I love a good celebration, and these pieces are sure to elevate any outdoor lunch or girls’ night in.
1. 4pc Tall Glass Drinkware Set
I personally have already been using these, and they are so good. I love the unique shape (it’s hard to tell online, but they’re kind of hexagonal?) and that the colors remind me of drinking margaritas on a porch with some pork tacos in Arizona springtime. However, the piece de resistance is that they’ve got some heft to them. This! Is! Crucial!
I adore drinkware with weight to it, and these glasses are no exception. You get four glasses for $30, which is a steal of a deal for the superb quality.
Consider my official review of the DvF for Target drinkware line to be an A.
2. Floral Toile 4pc Dining Bowl Set
Next up were these classic bold dining bowls. I feel like whenever I fall in love with bowl sets, they’re always incredibly pricey. I was pleasantly surprised that these rung up at $25! A key with these is that they’re also dishwasher safe. After a dinner party or even a weeknight meal with my husband, the last thing I want to do is do the pile of handwash dishes that await me!
That alone makes these a score for your kitchen cabinet collection. These truly allow every day to be a celebration of the joy of being alive, and I love that!
3. Floral Toile 4pc Salad Plate Set
Again, an amazing price for the quality of the plateware! These plates are perfect for the side salad that’ll go along with your bowl of rigatoni, and I love that for us. They’re stoneware, which makes them durable and easy to scrub bits off of, which is a win, but let’s be real: the iconic floral toile pattern is the real charmer here.
I already have them washed and set out on my counter, and they are waiting to be used ASAP!
4. Floral Toile 4pc Table Napkin Set
These are $12 for the set, match the salad plates and bowls to a tee, and raise the bar of any table setting.
Need I say more?
5. Dot Glass Pitcher
I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention this dot glass pitcher. It comes in at $20 and is totally chic. if I didn’t have two already, I would have snagged it. A friend of mine ended up buying it, and I look forward to sipping lemonade from it soon on her balcony!
Honorable Mentions:
4pc Short Glass Drinkware Set: I simply do not have the room in my NYC kitchen for another glassware set, and I knew I’d use the tall cups more often.
Arrow Geo Mug Drinkware Set with Saucers and Stand: My age-old question of, “What if I just put them in storage?” was asked but to no avail. The print on these mugs is totally DvF coded, though + would look so good in a coffee corner.
Vintage Weave Neutral Melamine Serving Tray: This serving tray is perfect for breakfast in bed and would look elevated on a coffee table with white roses in a square vase… yeah?
DvF for Target Favorites: Style
Full disclosure: I actually haven’t gotten anything in the style section (yet!) I browsed, but at the end of the day, the few items I enjoyed weren’t left in my size or weren’t my cup of tea.
As I talk about a lot, I am very intentional about the items I buy so I didn’t want to get one of the few items left in my size just to have “scored” something.
Fingers crossed for launch day goods making it through the check out process!
1. Long Sleeve Midi Arrow Geo Green Wrap Dress
If you’ve been dreaming of a wrap dress, this would be my personal choice. IMO, it’s the dress that screams “DvF” the most. I love the colorway, and the material was lightweight enough to be wearable in multiple seasons.
2. Collared Sleeveless Pink Modern Geo Jumpsuit
This DvF x Target geo jumpsuit is giving Business Barbie. Someone, please grab this up and wear it on a panel as you discuss ethical start-up funding STAT!
3. Long Sleeve V-Neck Neutral Poppy Sweater Wrap Top
This is a set I was hoping to find in my size while shopping at The Shed! The material felt cozy to the touch and I enjoy that the poppy print is fun while being neutral in color.
Note: The pants are sold separately here.
4. Side Wrap Mini Skort
Skorts are it, okay?! I rocked them in 1998, and God + Target.com willing I will be once more in 2024! This would be easy to pair with a tank top, short sleeve top, or body suit in the Spring/Summer.
It’s a “yes” from me.
5. Racerback Full Length Bodysuit
This material felt really stretchy and good in real life + had I truly felt I needed another bodysuit, I would have bought this one. Plus, the green color is great!
DvF for Target: Homeware
1. Charlotte’s Garden Lumbar Pillow
I believe decor is at its best with unexpected pieces strewn about + this lumbar pillow is that kind of piece for me! It’s just so fun.
The day before, I actually bought a lumbar pillow and cover, but I plan on returning them because this one is far superior in quality and design! If you’ve ever had to buy any sort of pillow or pillow cover, you know how costly they can get! I was truly open-mouthed when I saw the $20 price tag.
2. Black Chain Embroidery Pillowcase Set
To no surprise to anyone, bedding is sacred to me, + this embroidered pillowcase set is worthy of any fluffy bed! They’re $14 and make a bedroom feel elevated without being loud. Let the Charlotte’s Garden lumbar pillow shine amidst the subtlety of the black chain pillowcases.
3. Geranium Leaf Panel Room Divider
If I were in the market for a room divider, I’d have serious heart-eyes over this one! Once again, it’s just so fun and makes a statement without being overly loud.
4. Sea Twig Green Bath Towel
We were actually in the market for bath towels, so wound up getting one of these. My husband used it today and gave it a big thumbs up!
5. Neutral Poppy Throw Blanket
The poppy print is just a favorite of mine from this collection! It appears once more in this fun throw blanket, which would look great laid on the back of a chair or on the footrest of a couch.
Honorable Mentions:
Dot Glass Cylinder Accent Lamp: Unique and colorful without stealing the show of the space it’s in.
Cracked Glass Black/White Shade Accent Lamp: To be honest, I enjoy the shade much more than the cracked glass lamp itself. If I were buying, I’d buy it for the shade itself and put it on a lamp with a pop of color. Think cherry red!
There are other items in the Diane von Furstenberg for Target collection. The limited-time drop boasts cheeky robes, design-conscious notebooks, candles, and even sheet masks. For me, those didn’t make the cut, and that’s why you don’t see them included here.
That being said, I encourage each person who reads this to buy with intention, reuse vessels, don’t spend money because you feel like you “have to,” and only fill your spaces with things you truly love. That’s the mindset I used when shopping this collection, and I believe it to have served me wisely.
Good luck and happy shopping! You can check out the full collection, here.
